During the Eritrean campaign, the RSAAF defeated the Regia Aeronautica, after the surrender, various types of aircraft were captured, of these, one was a Savoia Marchetti SM.79, apparently in a continental scheme, in Green, Sand and Brown, with a large white identification band, entered service, apparently as a transport within the Royal South African Air Force.
The insignia are like the English ones, but the red circle is in orange, more material was also captured, in addition to several devices damaged by souvenir hunters, it is not known what happened to the small captured planes, because there are very few that continued with RSAAF insignia, and by the time of the Iraqi Rebellion they did not exist.
